Formula Junior and Alfa Vintage Racing Cars Featured, Lime Rock Historics, Sept 3-7
The annual Lime Rock Historic Festival has vintage races on Friday, Saturday and Monday. Sunday is the racing car concours on the main straight and the big 1000 historic car concours spread around the entire circuit. Over 300 vintage and historic racing cars from 1920 - 1996 are featured.
The world's first F1 driver training series was the International FIA series of 1959-1963 Formula Juniors. Over a hundred marques included Bandini, Lotus, Stanguelini, ELVA, Brabham, Lola, Tarashi, Genie, Cooper and OSCA. They used first 1000cc and later 1100cc production based engines early on FIAT and some DKWs, then the dominate 120HP Cosworth tuned English Ford engines.
